Green and responsible is better. ArchiMete is official supporter of WTM World Responsible Tourism Day

22 settembre 2012 | By

Many small individual actions to reach a great goal: protect the environment and have a better world to live. And…, of course, where to spend unique holidays!
It is the spirit of our company, that operates in the hearth of north-west Sardinia, in the Regional Natural park of Porto Conte and in the Marine protected area of Capo Caccia-isola Piana.
For us the “green philosophy” it’s a must. And we believe in it strongly.
That’s why in this first year we chose to participate at the World Travel Market in London (5-8 november), and we joined the WTM World Responsible Tourism Day 2012, planned on 7th november.

WTM WRTD has four realistic objectives for this day of action and with support from the UNWTO wants the industry to work together to:

Responsible tourism … at work. The challenge is open at the World Travel Market 2012 in London

12 agosto 2012 | By

The labour policies in Sardinia must pass by a well-coordinated revival of tourism. In whatever form it is developed (of course, better if sustainable and responsible): active, hotels, campings, luxury, linked to the sea, golf and many other activities.
But if the goal is to create prosperity for a region unique in the world for nature, culture, traditions, food and wine, the whole system needs to change pace quickly.
If it is true -as unfortunately confirms recent statistics compiled by the study centers of many professional associations- that in Italy one day per week is burned by bureaucracy, honor to italians entrepreneurs that, despite the difficulties, are able to obtain excellent results.

The entrepreneurial class continues to invest in productive sectors that are more interesting. And among these, in Sardinia, there is of course tourism. For this reason, from 5 to 8 November  2012, ArchiMete staff will be in London, among the exhibitors at World Travel Market – WTM 2012 – International Fair of Tourism, which is one of the most important appointments for the operators tourism industry worldwide. The WTM 2012 comes five months after the workshop in Spanish buyers and tour operators in Sardinia promoted in Madrid and that allowed us to test the great interest that the Western European market has for Sardinia.

We have chosen to participate at WTM 2012 in London in the awareness to represent a part of one of the many tourist potential of this region. We think strongly that this effort can become powerful driving force for the creation of new jobs, yet highly qualified.

Cala Inferno

4 febbraio 2012 | By

This is another path of great naturalistic interest, tucked away into the maquis which overlook the blue sea of Capo Caccia. The tourist centre ArchiMete is a perfect departure point because, from here, and by bike or by car, it is possible to reach the junction of Cala Dragunara-Belvedere Foradada. Following the latter direction, you arrive at the viewpoint clearings, which look towards the western side of Capo Caccia. From here, the path classified as “advanced excursion” starts; a quite difficult route, which runs along a path facing the sea and the sheer drop which dominates Cala Inferno. This stretch of coast also presents two stunning snorkeling routes to discover the heritage of the Marine Protected Area of Capo Caccia-Isola Piana.

Tunnel del Cabirol (the Tunnel of the Roebuck)

4 febbraio 2012 | By

It is a suggestive tunnel which takes its name from the Scalinata del Cabirol (the Steps of the Roebuck) –located right above the diving point– and leading to the famous Grotta di Nettuno (the Cave of Neptune). The tunnel’s entrance is very wide and rays of sunlight penetrate inside, creating spectacular plays of light. The cave is wedged into the cliff, and extends for about fifty metres, after which you enter another smaller cave, which is located right above the bigger one. Exiting out of the cave, you continue the dive along the outer wall of the headland, which is very rich in ravines and burrows.

Departure: the cave is 8 minutes away from th ArchiMete tourist centre by rubber boat.

Route: the cave in on two levels and the exploration is quite easy.

Depth: the cave entrance is at 16 metres depths, once you have arrived at the outer wall, you can reach the seabed at 30 metres.

To see: colorful walls, covered by sponges and corals, disclose ravines where spin lobsters, moray eels, but also nudibranches and shrimps find shelter. Just outside the tunnel, it is easy to spot big pelagic fishes and sea breams hunting their quarry.

Length of the exploration: 1 hour

Price includes: scuba tank and ballast, transfer by rubber boat, diving and naturalistic guide inside the cave, washing and storage of the equipment.

Further information: the tourist centre ArchiMete offers the possibility to buy cheap diving packages, which allow one to experience the wonders of the Protected Marine Area of Capo Caccia-Isola Piana. The offer can be combined with trekking and snorkeling routes, in addition to naturalistic activities proposed by ArchiMete. See also the section “Discover our offers” on the homepage of the website.

Grotta di Falco (the Cave of Falco) or Grotta di Anfitrite (the Cave of Amphitrite)

4 febbraio 2012 | By

Right after the Grotta dei Cervi (the Cave of Deer), the Karst complex of Punta Giglio discloses another wonder of this area. The cave is very large and wide, and can easily be reached by all divers. The inner vault is rich in stalactites and calcite arabesques.  Once inside the cave, you can leave your equipment behind, and walk along a gallery to admire stalagmite formations, lace-like rock formations and scenic calcite blades. In the Sixties, it was dedicated to the diver Ennio Falco, one of the most famous sportsman in this specialty, and on a level with other famous names in this field, like Raimondo Bucher, Enzo Maiorca and Jacques Mayol.

Departure: the cave is 10 minutes away from the ArchiMete tourist centre by rubber boat.

Route: the cave is on two levels and the exploration is easy and enjoyable.

Depth: maximum 10 metres, from the cave entrance.

To see: the cave is a little paradise for lovers of underwater speleology. Once the small inner lake has been reached, it is possible to leave your equipment behind, and walk along a gallery which leads to a room of around 80 square metres, decorated by stalactites, stalagmites and calcite formations.

Length of the exploration: 1 hour and 10 minutes including the excursion in the air tunnel.

Archi di Nereo (the Arches of Nereus)

4 febbraio 2012 | By

Just above the main entrance to the Grotta di Nereo (the Cave of Nereus) a scenic series of underwater arches are visible, and characterized by a flourishing underwater flora and fauna. Walking through the arches, it is easy to spot colonies of red coral, but also to assist the quick passage of big pelagic fish, like amberjacks, sea breams and barracudas. Rays of sunlight magically play among the arches and, along with the transparent  waters, create a very suggestive image; perfect for capturing with your camera and video recordings.

Departure: the cave is 10 minutes away from the ArchiMete tourist centre by rubber boat

Route: the cave is on one level and the exploration is easy and enjoyable.

Depth: maximum 18 metres, entrance to the arches is at 15 metres depth.

To see: the arches are the perfect shelter for Mediterranean spin lobsters, congers and moray eels, while the walls are covered with sponges and sea daisies. Getting closer to the walls with your mask, it is possible to spot multicolored nudibranches and shy sea horses. Looking out from the arches and towards the open sea, it is possible to admire the passage of pelagic fishes, like barracudas, amberjacks, sea breams and breams.
